Its current focus is on science fiction, fantasy, gaming, anime, horror, art, and comics. Every year guests and fan groups come from all over to talk with fans about their favorite obsession. MOBICON's proceeds benefit a charity that is chosen each year by its Board of Directors.

is a project to create a free shell, email, and webhosting service. It runs on the open source OpenBSD operating system, renowned for its stability and security.
Accounts are free once accepted and greater levels of service are offered to users who contribute to the community. Accounts are available on a number of domains hosted at the project, including metawire.org.
The project members offer not only support, but write and contribute opensource software of their own.
Until recently, the IRC network used by Metawire was linked to the one used by the Gay Nigger Association of America, but frictions between the groups caused Metawire to split off.
An unrelated DDoS attack caused Metawire to lose its service provider; it is back up as of April 2005.
